Rehoboth McKinley Christian Health Care Services agreed to a class action settlement to resolve claims surrounding a 2021 data breach.
The settlement benefits individuals who received a data breach notice from Rehoboth McKinley Christian Health Care Services around May 19, 2021, regarding a data breach discovered Feb. 16, 2021.
Rehoboth McKinley failed to protect consumer information in a 2021 data breach, according to plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit. The data breach, which was discovered on Feb. 16, 2021, allegedly compromised names, addresses, contact information, Social Security numbers, driver’s license, passport numbers, health insurance data, financial account information and more.
Rehoboth McKinley Christian Health Care Services is a Christian hospital that provides medical services to northwestern New Mexico and eastern Arizona.
Rehoboth McKinley hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve these data breach allegations.
Under the terms of the Rehoboth McKinley Christian Health Care Services settlement, class members can receive up to $500 for “ordinary” data breach losses including bank fees, communication expenses, credit-related costs and up to four hours of lost time at a rate of $15 per hour.
Class members can receive an additional $3,500 in reimbursement if they experienced “extraordinary” data breach expenses including unreimbursed monetary losses caused by identity theft or fraud.
All class members, regardless of if they suffered out-of-pocket losses, can receive two years of free credit-monitoring services. Class members will receive an activation code and instructions for how to enroll for these free services after the settlement is finalized.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is April 10, 2023.
The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for May 24, 2023.
To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by May 9, 2023.
