The Trois Cantons ambulances in Peyrehorade have lost all their files and appointments for the next few weeks
“As if it had crashed”. Tuesday, December 6, around 5:30 p.m., the ambulances of the Three Cantons in Peyrehorade, in the south of the Landes, were the victims of a cyberattack with a ransom demand, indicates Nicolas Huoar, co-manager of the company with his wife.

“As soon as we saw that there was a problem, we printed our diary until Saturday, December 10 inclusive. But from Monday, December 12, we no longer have any database. It is not known which patients were scheduled, or at what times. We also lost the telephone numbers”, explains the paramedic, who “calls on the network to transmit the information and tell our patients to call us back to avoid missing the appointments that were planned”.

Patients are invited to call the Three Cantons ambulances as soon as possible on 05 58 73 00 63.

"Secure Everything"
“The Regional Health Agency and the CPAM have been alerted,” continues the manager.

Both of the company's software were affected. “Invoicing level, it's the same there is no more follow-up, no more data. Everything that was dematerialized in the software has been erased. Our lawyer and our accountant are also called upon. At the same time, technicians take care of locking and securing everything. »

In recent years, several hospitals and healthcare systems have been victims of cyberattacks by hackers who have blocked or leaked confidential patient information and taken equipment out of service. These criminals exploit, through ransomware or "ransomware", the security flaws in computer systems to encrypt and block them, before demanding a ransom to unblock them.
