Police were called to Salina Intermediate School after the assistant principal called about a student whose computer was hacked Jan. 6.
Police came to the school and talked with the student and his father, who were both worried that another game was going to have them Swatted after the student’s computer was hacked.
Swatting is a phenomenon that has been going on for several years all over the country, when someone calls the police and claims a major crime is happening at an address where the people at that address are unaware.

The student told officers that he was playing Roblox and talking with another person on Discord. He said he wasn’t sure how, but the other person gained control over his computer.
The other player then began demanding money or he would have his house Swatted.
The student’s computer then shut down and he was not able to turn it back on. They logged into accounts on another device and deleted the ROBLOX and Discord accounts, and changed all the passwords, but it was too late, personal data was already stolen.
The vice-principal told police that a child called the Dearborn Administrative Building and left a voicemail about the student.
The child had all of the student’s information such has his name, school ID number, school email address, and said that he believes the school should give the student some discipline as he had been scamming kids on ROBLOX and saying the “N-word.”
The person did not leave their name or number in the message to the district.
