A computer that police say contained “sensitive patient information” was reported stolen from Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge last week.

According to police, the laptop was stolen from the hospital campus at 1775 W. Dempster St. between 3:30 p.m. Sept. 22 and 6:30 a.m. the following morning. The exact location of the theft was not indicated, said Park Ridge Executive Officer Tom Gadomski.

In a statement, Julie Nakis, spokeswoman for Advocate Aurora Health, said there is “no information to suggest that any personal information has been accessed or used.”

“We have security technologies and processes in place to protect patient data and the laptop has been disabled,” she said.

Nakis did not specify the type of patient information that had been available on the computer prior to the theft or from where it was stolen.

The incident remains under investigation, Gadomski said.
