Mauricio Arriaza Chicas, director of the National Civil Police (PNC), confirmed yesterday that they are already conducting an internal investigation process and another with the Attorney General's Office (FGR) to find the alleged perpetrators of a hack carried out in early September to the institution's data system and that allowed personal data of various members of the corporation to be leaked and published.

"The PNC investigates the case and notifies the Prosecutor's Office, which is in charge of the investigation to determine whether to identify or hold any person responsible who has stolen information of an internal nature from the police institution," Arriaza Chicas declared yesterday at a conference on press provided in Usulután.

The data of almost 30,000 police officers (their names, identification numbers, place where it was featured and phone numbers) were posted on social media earlier this month by the Twitter account @Focaleaks, which has already been suspended.

Arriaza Chicas said yesterday that it was an old database, but the specialized site databreaches.net has published that it was a serious violation of the current security of the PNC.
