Elekta System Shut Down For Renown Patients After Data Breach In April
A Renown spokesperson told 2 News there was a data breach with one of its business associates, Elekta, Inc. earlier in April.

A Renown spokesperson told 2 News there was a data breach with one of its business associates, Elekta, Inc. earlier in April.
Officials said on it happened on April 6 and after learning about it, Elekta, Inc. launched an investigation and notified its customers, including Renown Health, of the incident.
Elekta's first generation cloud-based storage system experienced the breach and after an investigation, its team decided to shut down the system out of an abundance of caution.
The investigation found there was access to PHI as a result of the incident.
The system remains shut down to protect patient and customer information and to prevent any further access to Elekta's system.
The following types of PHI belonging to Renown Health patients residing in Nevada or neighboring states may have been involved in the breach:
Full name
Social Security number
Address
Date of birth
Height
Weight
Medical diagnosis
Medical treatment details
Appointment confirmations
No financial account, credit care or debit card information was involved in the incident.
Elekta is offering complimentary access to identity monitoring, fraud consultation and identity theft restoration services.

“The safety and care of our patients is always our top priority. A recent patient data security incident involving our business associate, Elekta, Inc. happened on April 6, 2021. Upon learning of this incident, Elekta launched an in-depth investigation of the incident and promptly notified its customers, including Renown Health, of the incident. Immediately after we were notified of the incident, we began working with Elekta to better understand the nature and scope of the incident and coordinate our efforts to find alternate ways to continue treating patients. We will continue working with Elekta to ensure our patients continue to receive treatment, further secure the patient information, and notify regulatory authorities as required.
