The Boutin transport company has been the target of ransomware. The company has shut down all of its computer systems, but is successful in continuing operations.

The security breach was announced on the site of a ransomware group. We contacted the company by phone on April 28 and the president, Mr. Bernard Boutin, confirmed that they were indeed the target of a cyber attack. He asked us to send him our questions in writing.

In an email, the entrepreneur explains to us that a ransom message was discovered and that they then called in a computer security specialist.

Customer and employee portals, accessible from their website, are not responding. In order not to take any unnecessary risk, "we have closed access to all of our systems and workstations". Staff need to rebuild a number of servers and "start from zero some applications." Part of the work on operations is done manually. "

Mr. Boutin says their operations are continuing. “We were able with our team to ensure that the service was not too disrupted. "

The situation is currently under investigation. The company cannot say for sure whether personal customer or employee data has been stolen. But, "when in doubt, the people concerned began to be informed".

Boutin is a company founded in 1945 whose head office is located in Plessisville, in Center-du-Québec. According to its website, it has more than 390 employees and has a fleet that exceeds 630 units.
