The attack was noticed a few days ago and according to a report by the newspaper "Kathimerini", the Ministry of National Defense and the Police have been involved in the investigation into the incident, while the EYP is monitoring the developments. Initially there was concern about the possibility that the company fell victim to cyber espionage from a foreign country. The attack was confirmed by the EAS officials themselves and they immediately informed the Pentagon. Officers of the Cyber Defense Directorate of GEETHA went for an autopsy at the company's premises, as well as police officers of the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate of the Police. If deemed necessary, the Hellenic Police may, after the completion of the investigation, proceed with the formation of a case file. According to the report of the newspaper "Kathimerini", the perpetrators managed to violate computers that operate in the company's offices and not the network that is connected to the production part. This means that they probably did not have access to sensitive information. A government official also said the incident was not linked to spy activity but to digital blackmail. The relevant information was confirmed by a security official, who, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that the perpetrators have locked the company's files and are asking for ransom in bitcoins in order to allow staff access to the company's electronic files. The details of the attack will be known after the completion of the investigation. Πηγή: www.lifo.gr
