Hendrick: Computer network breach compromised some patients' information
Hendrick Health System on Friday began notifying patients that some identifying information may have been compromised during a network security breach identified Nov. 20.
An investigation determined that patient information may have been accessible between Oct. 10 and Nov. 9, the release said, including patient names, Social Security numbers, demographic and other limited information about care provided by Hendrick.
"Patient electronic health records were not impacted," the release said.
The breach disrupted computer operations at Hendrick Medical Center and Hendrick Clinic. Records at Hendrick Medical Center South and Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood were not affected, the release said.
Hendrick has established a call center for patients who believe they were affected by this incident. The number is 855-526-1144. The center is open 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
If patients do not receive a letter by Feb. 15 and believe they were affected, they can contact the call center, the release aid.
