Personal data of ANWB customers may have been stolen after a cyber attack
The ANWB fears that personal data of its customers has been stolen in a cyber attack. The tourist association has therefore sent a warning e-mail, also to people who have been members of the ANWB in the past, to be alert to suspicious e-mails with conspicuous senders and attachments.
In the message, the ANWB states that the systems of the collection agency Trust Krediet Beheer BV (TKB) have been affected by so-called 'encryption software'. This collection agency is called in by the ANWB when members and customers are in arrears. Contact and invoice data were allegedly made illegible during the attack
ANWB response to the incident
The ANWB says it has informed the Dutch Data Protection Authority of the incident, and urges its members to delete suspicious emails.
The union has also stopped sharing data with TKB. The collection agency has reported the matter to the police.
