Struggling since December 8 with a failure of its computer systems and networks, and following due diligence it has conducted, the City of Marieville is now able to confirm that it has suffered a cyber attack. A team of experts is currently conducting an in-depth investigation intended to shed light on the situation, secure the IT environment and restore the affected municipal services as soon as possible.

It is important to note that all essential services, including the emergency dispatch service, are maintained.

At this point in the investigation, it is too early to say what nature or the extent of the data targeted by the cyberattack. However, the City intends to inform citizens of the evolution of the situation as soon as possible.

Until the telephone system is restored, citizens with priority requests can contact the City at the temporary telephone number 514 797-7980. The public should, however, favor the website as a source of information.

In the circumstances, the City had to postpone to a later date the holding of the extraordinary meetings which were scheduled for Tuesday, December 8 for the adoption of the 2021 budget forecasts and the annual taxation by-law.

In addition, the activities and services offered at the library are interrupted until the situation is restored. However, residents can still take advantage of the activities offered at the Julien-Beauregard arena by reserving a quarter of ice through the registration link available on the website.

Any development will be communicated to the population through the Ville de Marieville website and Facebook page.

The City is treating this situation with all the seriousness and rigor necessary and will spare no effort to promote a rapid return to normalcy. In the meantime, she wishes to thank the citizens for their understanding and their patience.
