KUURNE MUNICIPAL SERVICES DOWN DUE TO CYBER ATTACK

The municipal services in Kuurne have been hit by a cyber attack. There is a computer virus in the municipal computer network and the service is disrupted.

"The municipality discovered a virus in its network on Tuesday, November 17. It concerns a 'wannamine', an attack in which the intention is not to ask for money but to use the power of our network to acquire crypto coins", Kuurne says in a press release.

"After the determination, all devices were taken offline and a message was distributed that our services are no longer available. We are currently receiving help to investigate the damage and restart our services."

In the meantime, it is all hands on deck at the town hall: about 100 laptops are checked one by one. A new antivirus program will also be installed. The central computer server is now down until all laptops are ok.

CONSEQUENCES OF SERVICES

"Concretely, the Town Hall Social House closed till Friday, November 20th, by phone or counters Urgent questions you may send to the service mailboxes concerned (. [email protected] ; [email protected] ; [email protected] , social service @ kuurne.be ; [email protected] ; [email protected] ) ".

Anyone who has urgent questions for the Social Services (financial assistance, ...) can call 0472/18 72 73. The sports service and library are open but can only be reached by e-mail. Sports clubs that come to train can still contact the sports department. The leisure service is closed and cannot be reached by telephone, but it can be reached by email.

The council and ocmw council of next Thursday 19 November has been canceled. We will communicate a new date after consultation with the Domestic Administration ", says Kuurne.
