Sensitive TPD documents found in trash

pTOLEDO Ohio WTVG Toledo Police have launched an investigation into who failed to properly dispose of sensitive police documentsppA local blogger found personal information of a suspect in a trash bin outside of TPDppThis is not the first time TPD administrators have addressed this issueppWe blurred the information on one of the sensitive documents found in the trash outside of TPD It is information that only TPD should have access toppJust like last time around names addresses Social Security numbers the whole nine yards Just like last time said Aaron CollinsppLocal blogger Aaron Collins said TPD is putting peoples safety at riskppThis is just the property receipt from one Lieutenant Jones and Sgt Bell took my complaint So this is property receipt for it said CollinsppIts not the first time Collins has found sensitive documents in the trash outside of the TPD swat buildingppLast year he found bins full of paperwork with pictures of suspects and their social security numbers birthdays and addressesppA TPD spokesperson said this last yearppIts known that it should be destroyed and not thrown away where citizens could find it So that will be addressed the departmentwide and reiterated the proper procedure to destroy those items said  TPD Lt Paul Davispp13 Action News contacted a spokesperson for the department on Wednesday and told him about the personal information found in the trashppHe said TPD is launching an investigationppTPD is acknowledging those documents were in the trash From our knowledge one is a crime report that had either victim or suspect information which should have been redacted The other report appears to be to our knowledge at this time a general that would have been public record No sensitive information on there that appears to be redacted We will be launching an investigation in regards to policy violation said TPD Sgt Adam FishppTPD has resources to properly shred or get rid of sensitive documentsppLatest Local News First Alert Weather Crime National 13abc OriginalsppCopyright 2024 WTVG All rights reservedp
